As we expand our inventory of pro-audio equipment, we try and have 3 main factors in mind: Function, Quality, Sustainability.
We've just taken delivery of Allen & Heath's Qu24 digital desk.
Function
We can do more, slightly larger events without having to sub in equipment and produce better quality results without having to add to the cost. The great thing about digital desks and the Qu series mixers (as well as their bigger brothers and sisters) is the amount of tools (or gadgets) that you can get. The Qu24 comes with:
- 24 mic inputs and a load of stereo ins
- 7 monitor mixes
- 4 DCAs
- 4 band parametric EQ on pretty much everything
- 20 x 31 band graphics
- On board effects to suit most users
- Analogue ins but with full digital snake capability
- Remote control from iPad (makes mixing monitors a whole lot easier)
- DAW integration (if you want to know what I mean, please ask)
and loads more.
Quality
Allen & Heath are a long established UK manufacturer with fantastic pedigree in high end audio over many years. My first experience of one of their desk was in the 1980s - I was very young.
Sustainability
It's always nice to buy something new and shiny. But one of the things we've tried to do at Sounds Cotswold is to buy sustainably - if we can get the kit that we want of appropriate quality on the second hand market, we will. This avoids equipment going to waste, reduces cost and ensures that the components have as long a life as they can - which is good for the environment.
I should also say that there are somethings where you just have to buy new - cables and stands being prime examples.
Our hire package will include the desk, wireless router and iPad.
